Geotourism

The island has a rich geological heritage that is of high scientific, educational, and tourist interest. Among the various phenomena and volcanic landscapes on the island, Gruta das Torres and Lajido de Santa Luzia stand out; however, Pico Mountain, the highest point in Portugal, with 2350 metres of altitude, is the island’s ex-libris.
