Whale Watching

In the Azores you can find about a third of all the existing species of whales and dolphins. More than 20 different types of cetaceans can be spotted in its waters, among resident and migratory species, common or rare, which makes the archipelago one of the largest whale sanctuaries in the world. Observation is possible throughout the year. The island of Faial is one of the best places in the archipelago for this activity, due to the large number of whales and dolphins that frequently roam along its coast.
