Câmara Municipal da Madalena

Although modest in design, it is the only public building on the island from the 18th century. Its facade features a bay window and dark trim that contrasts with the white walls.

Noteworthy is the coat of arms on the main facade of this building, symbolizing the great devotion of the people of Madalena to the Holy Spirit.

At the beginning of the 18th century, deeply moved by the seismic and volcanic cataclysms suffered by the people of São Mateus and its surroundings, the Madalena Town Hall had the coat of arms of the kingdom engraved in stone on the frontispiece of the Town Hall, topped by the insignia of the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.
